And they called it Kitty Love
I have too many cats. Knowing that, I think, is half the battle. The only problem is I love them all and wouldn't dare even entertain the idea of getting rid of one of them for fear that they would somehow find out and retaliate. No really, I love them all to bits. I'm not sure how I wound up with 6 plus Hope, our foster kitty, but I really can't remember life without them. Though their litter and food cost a small fortune leaving nothing much in the bank account for food for myself and my fiancé, I really don't give a hoot.
First I'll talk a little bit about Casey. She's the kitten. Casey is really one of the most bright, sweet little cats I've ever met. She loves our company just a little too much at times and always has to be where the action is. She's our little Russian Blue.
Duncan, master of disaster, is our Tonk. Oh man he started out so sweet and small and what a huge terror he's grown into. But he loves Casey and has taken up the role of vigilant big brother - always watching what she's doing. Duncan is the cat most likely to be voted honorary dog.
Noodle and Salina are my girls. Noodle aka Leah, was my first cat after Tigger passed. She's a little tomboy and pretends to not need you until you wake up in the middle of the night with her big round head in your face purring while she sleeps on your (my) pillow. She loves me. I know it. Just don't tell her to admit it because she'll sit on your face. Leeny is her sister, a big, white, weird ball of fluffy neurotic. Always grooming, sleeping, and eating. Word to the wise - don't mess up her fur. She'll resent you for days.
Morris is the big orange boy brought to me by my lovely Matt. He's the most laid back of the bunch. I have to say he's the one who sort of fades into the background and lets the others have all the attention. I feel bad for the boy sometimes. He's sweet, loving, likes to hug when you pick him up and is happy keeping an eye on the herd.
Hmmm... I know there's one I've left out. Oh yes! Maggie. Maggie is our third purebred. She's a ragdoll, our only declaw and the most temperamental of the bunch. Probably due to the two previous facts. Declaws tend to develop nasty personal habits but she's daddy's princess and man does he baby her. Anything she wants she gets. She's got these great brown spots on her face mixed with white. She is a purty thing. She will allow you to pick her up on occasion but we've been working with her and she's come so far from when we got her. Last but in no way least we have Hope, our foster. She's a calli and looking for a home when we're done fattening her up and socializing her. She is a tad quirky and still coming out of her shell so her personality is just beginning to shine. I love her to bits also. We found her outside the apartment one day and she was SO skinny we gave her some food. It was all over after that. We brought her inside and got her checked out.
So 7. Yes, 7 cats. I never in a million years thought I would actually have 7 cats in a 2 bedroom apartment in Mt. Lebo. But then, a lot of things have happened over the last year that I never ever thought would. Life can bring you surprises so fast you never have time to actually realize they've all happened until much later. I couldn't love them more if I tried and believe me. I wouldn't trade them for the world.
